About Santos & Sons Garage Door
Santos & Sons Garage Door is a family-owned garage door company at 2081 Center St in downtown Berkeley, between Shattuck and Milvia. We repair doors, replace springs, service openers, and install new doors for homeowners across the East Bay, and we still take care of our longtime Peninsula customers.
We worked out of San Mateo for years before moving the shop to Berkeley in 2026. A broken spring at 8 AM and a new door install on a Sunday morning are both regular jobs for us. We're open Sunday through Friday, 8 AM to 8 PM, and closed Saturdays.
Our Story
Santos & Sons started as a small family operation on El Camino Real in San Mateo. The idea was plain: show up on time, do the job right, charge a fair price. In 2026 we moved the shop to downtown Berkeley, and that's still the whole business plan.
Santos learned the trade with his hands, on other people's crews, before opening under his own name. He still holds the company to one test: treat every customer the way you'd want a tradesman to treat you in your own home.
Most of our new customers come from word of mouth. A neighbor's spring gets fixed, the neighbor mentions us over the fence, the phone rings. You can't buy that kind of referral. You earn it one garage door at a time.
Our Mission
Estimates are free, and you approve the exact price before we start any work. The tech explains what failed, shows you the part, and tells you what it costs to fix. Then you decide.
We put LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Genie, and Craftsman components on your door because a spring or opener that fails early costs us a warranty visit and costs you another morning stuck in the driveway. Nobody wins on cheap parts.
We measure how we're doing by two things: the reviews customers leave and the neighbors they send our way. Both dry up fast when the work is sloppy, so the work can't be.
What Sets Us Apart
Licensed & Insured. We carry liability coverage and workers' compensation, so if anything happens on your property, it's on our policy, not yours.
Same-Day Service. A door stuck open is a security problem, so most repairs happen the day you call. We're open 8 AM to 8 PM, Sunday through Friday.
60-Minute Arrival. East Bay calls get a 60-minute arrival window. From Center St, most Berkeley addresses are 10 to 15 minutes away.
Warranty on Parts & Labor. If something isn't right, we come back and fix it at no charge.
Local Technicians. Our techs live and work in the East Bay. They've been in the crawl-height garages of North Berkeley Craftsmans and the steep driveways up in the hills, and they show up with the right parts for both.
Family Values. Nobody on our team earns commission on upsells. If the spring has years left in it, the tech says so and leaves it alone.

A broken spring in Oakland, a new door in Alameda, a dead opener in El Cerrito: these are all everyday calls for us. We know what a 1920s Craftsman bungalow in North Berkeley needs versus a hillside home in Montclair with low headroom, and the truck is stocked for both before it leaves the shop.
